Dimon's GEM Food Locker

How It all Started:

We all noticed that we went to school in a community that is located in a food desert area. A food desert is an area where a lot of healthy food options are not available.

Community Partners

The 5th graders at Dimon decided that their community could benefit from a food locker. In the 2022-23 school year, they designed the food locker layout and partnered with Feeding the Valley and Helping Hands to get food and storage equipment. This school year, they have teamed with the AKA Sorority to pack items for families in need.

Click the link below to complete a form that gives us information about your household and your needs. Within this link you will find information about pickup. Community boxes are given out monthly to families and Buddy Packs are given to students of Dimon that are in need weekly.

GEM Food Locker

We have collected canned foods for our GEM Food Locker. Students volunteer time to fill Power Packs for families that can use healthy foods.

Fifth graders work to organize the GEM Food Lcoker and to pack supplies for families.

Once the power pack is filled, students will help deliver the packs of food to families in need.
